Acting – Appio Latino

Acting Course – Appio Latino

📅 Monday
19:15 - 22:15

📍Appio Latino area – Rome

In addition to the Three-Year Acting Diploma Course, the Academy offers a varied alternative of courses designed for those who, for study, work, or personal reasons, cannot commit to a full-time academic program; for those who wish to approach theatre for the first time, or who want to deepen acting tools and techniques in a flexible yet always professional way.

Theatre is not only an art, but also a powerful tool for personal growth and communication.

This weekly workshop is designed for those who want to approach acting practice, but also for those who, for study or profession, wish to improve their ability to communicate, speak in public, listen, and be listened to.

We will work on texts by classic and essential authors, up to contemporary playwriting, to explore styles, languages, and expressive forms that have marked theatre history.

Through work on body, voice, breath, and text, each participant will develop a more authentic presence, greater expressive awareness, and more effective communication, useful both on stage and in everyday life.

An accessible and stimulating pathway that blends the actor’s work with techniques useful for interpersonal communication and confidence in public speaking.

Key contents

  • Physical training and vocal warm-up:
Preparing body and voice as expressive instruments: work on posture, centering, relaxation, breathing, vocal and articulation warm-ups, to gain command and presence.
  • Projection, resonance, and articulation exercises:
Vocal techniques to strengthen volume, clarity, and expressive intensity, improving the ability to speak to an audience with authority and ease.
  • Spatial and relational dynamics:
Exploration of stage space and the relationship with the other: active listening, eye contact, management of distance and movement, to make the body communicative and aware.
  • Study of monologues and scenes:
Individual and group work on plays to develop interpretation, rhythm, intention, and character building, with attention to verbal and nonverbal language.
  • Work on subtext and dramatic action:
In-depth analysis of intentions hidden behind words, internal and external conflicts, dramaturgical action and emotional coherence, to make every gesture and every word meaningful and authentic.

Course objectives

  • Train stage presence and body awareness
  • Acquire effective vocal tools for the stage
  • Develop listening, impulse, and inner rhythm
  • Learn to read, analyze, and interpret a theatrical text

Methodology

Each meeting alternates moments of physical and vocal exploration with practical exercises on text and scene.
The goal is not only to learn to act, but to develop an authentic presence, capable of communicating effectively and listening deeply.
Theatre work thus becomes a comprehensive training, useful both for those who want to step on stage and for those who wish to express themselves better in public. The group constitutes a protected and stimulating context in which to challenge oneself, experiment, and grow together.

  • Those who wish to start acting from solid foundations
  • Those with experience who want to refocus on vocal work and the theatrical stage
  • Those who want to train as actors by tackling play and theatrical improvisation
