Patrizia La Fonte

Patrizia La Fonte, actress and author, graduated from the National Academy of Dramatic Arts Silvio D'Amico, in '88-'89 lived in New York attending the Actors' Studio, taking courses in Improvisation Comedy and working as an assistant director in Off-Broadway theaters. She is also a playwright, actress, and cabaret author.

In theater she has been directed among others by A. Salines, F. Molè, D. D’Anza, M. Bernardi, V. Ciurlo, I. Loesch, R. Marafante, W. Manfrè, M. Fallucchi, A. Martino, R. Cavallo, T. Sherman. She was a lead actress in many “Secret Passages”, itinerant shows at Castel S.Angelo, Roman Forum, Capitoline Museums (also in English), Palazzo Braschi. Recently co-author and performer with F. R. d'Ettorre in “Dear Twentieth Century”. Co-author with T. Sherman of “Ellen Dean – Wuthering Heights”, which she performed under the direction of T. Sherman.

In cinema she has also been directed by P. F. Campanile, M. Monicelli, N. Loy, D. D’Ambrosi, F. Ozpetek “Sacred Heart”, C. Bortone “Red Like the Sky” (film awarded David di Donatello Giovani 2007).

In television, she has participated in many productions, including “Le ragazze di San Frediano”, R. V. Sindoni, the ten series of “Incantesimo” and “SOS Befana”, F. Vicario.

She is a live presenter and host and teaches disciplines for performance and communication, with special attention to voice, orthophonic re-education and diction and is often also an “acting coach” and consultant in various fields. Since 1983, she has been holding courses in Diction and Acting, consultations and seminars throughout Italy (Lignano Sabbiadoro, Rovereto, Trento, Rome, Lamezia Terme) and abroad (New York,1988, readings–lessons from Dante to the Seventeenth Century for the “Middle School of Italian Language in Manhattan”, New Jersey, 1989,Readings: Dante, T. Tasso for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences–Dept. of Italian at Rutgers University of N.J.). Since 2008 she teaches Techniques of emission, phonetic articulators and resonators, Orthoepy of the Italian language, Teaching vocal training, Voice education at the International Academy of Theater.

She is a director and performer of the show "Maturina Fantesca heir of Leonardo da Vinci" for which the text was published for "Ikona Liber" in the series "Theater in the world".

She manages projects "The scene takes place in Rome" and "Rise and fall of the fourth wall" at the Casa dei Teatri di Roma in collaboration with the Department of Culture - Department of Culture and Tourism of Rome Capital.

In November 2016 she publishes the book “Just to Say, a very practical and not so theoretical guide for
spoken Italian”
which collects the experience of thirty years of teaching with the original imitative orthophonic method (ed. Ikona Lìber, series Le forme del linguaggio).

In 2017 she conceives and organizes the “Lydia Biondi International Award” and participates in Siena at the Festival of Italian and Italy's languages “Words in Motion”.
